As we honour Canada's 150th Birthday, let's remember to get at least 150 minutes of physical activity per week! The Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines recommends this amount for all Canadians aged 18-64, and 60 minutes every day for children and youth. Unfortunately only 2 in 10 adults meet this recommendation and only 1 in 10 children.
According to the Guidelines, being active for at least 150 minutes per week can help improve fitness, strength and mental health and can help reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, certain types of cancer, Type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and obesity.
So get out there and get your 150 minutes for Canada's 150th!
